Ideal for those seeking evidence-based therapy to move towards their goals, but with a preference for a gentler pace of weekly or fortnightly sessions.

We offer a warm and professional therapy service to anyone over the age of 18 who feels stuck in life, or wants to improve their mental health.

 

All members of The Plum Psychology team specialise in therapy for Trauma and Anxiety, Low self-esteem and Burnout. We also offer online trauma-informed ADHD assessments.

Our one-to-ones are regular therapy sessions tailored to your pace and personal history. Designed for those needing personalised support with anxiety, trauma, or burnout-related symptoms.

  • How does it work when I contact you for 1-1 therapy?
    Dr Claire Plumbly, (Director of Plum Psychology), has hand selected ten experienced (trauma-informed) HCPC-registered psychologists to join the Plum Psychology Team and two BABCP-registered CBT Therapists. When you fill in the enquiry form we match you up with the therapist best suited to you based on your past history, current needs and availability. The therapist will contact you to arrange an initial free 15 minute call. Free introductory call This is usually a 15 minute phone call (or zoom call) to discuss what you are currently looking for, answer questions you have about therapy, and to see if you gel with the therapist. If at this point the therapist believes that your difficulties can be helped by their therapeutic approach then they will offer you an appointment to meet for an initial consultation. Initial consultation This is an opportunity to go through your areas of difficulty in more detail, and understand what you’d like to be different in your life. We then develop a roadmap for our work together which pulls together our understanding of your issues in the context of your life experiences and current circumstances. We can work with you online (using Zoom) or face-to-face in Taunton, Somerset.

  • Do I need a diagnosis in order to work with you?
    You do not need a diagnosis to work with us because we focus on whatever is most important to you now.
  • How are you qualified to help?
    We are all qualified as HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologists or Counselling Psychologists. This means that we have been trained to a high standard and are up-to-date with our training and have high standards in our work as is required by our professional body. In addition to this we have additional accreditation with other governing bodies for specific therapy models such as the EMDR Association and British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
  • Do you work with any health insurance providers?

  • Clients must agree to share their GP details in the case of emergencies (we do not routinely write to GPs unless there is a clinical need, which we would discuss with you first).

  • We reserve the right to decline offering a service where we do not believe that we offer the best match for your clinical need, this will be explained and where possible we will signpost you to a service that we feel would be a better fit.
