Anxiety, overwhelm, burnout and trauma responses are all, at the heart of it, problems that come from an autonomic nervous system that has been ground down by events beyond your control.

To get started with feeling better I have somd practical tools for soothing your nervous system. You will need to practice them (ideally daily at first) because the neural pathways that are needed to get lasting change develop with repetition.

This might sound obvious but these are all evidence-based therapy tools but they only work if you do them properly, i.e. not whilst you're multitasking!

Here you go:


1) Tapping tool (adapted from EMDR therapy): this is a 5 minute video with an effective technique)

2) 3-step technique to calm down: this is a short blog post with an accompanying audio.


3) How to deal with worries - a CBT technique.
